Tyler's story began in 1996, when at the age of 5 he started racing quarter midgets. He quickly showed himself as a gifted and competitive driver, winning numerous races, and several championships. After honing his skills racing go-karts on a recreational level, Tyler moved onto Legend cars.
2006 was his first full year in a Legend. Now at the age of 14, Tyler prepared himself for an
extensive year of travel. Tyler and his parents welcomed June of that year by loading their motor home, trailer, and the family dog, for their first of what would be many treks south. Over that summer, Tyler gained experience and confidence by logging valuable "seat time" , racing 6 days a week for a full 12 weeks.
In his travels he raced in the highly competitive 10 week Summer Shootout Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway semi-pro division, Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Newton, NC, Lanier National Speedway, Braselton, GA, and Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, NC.
Towards the end of the summer, however, all his hard work began to payoff. While traveling back home he would experience his first Legends A-main win. This victory came at Sandia Motor Speedway, Albuquerque, NM. After returning home, Tyler took the opportunity to showcase his abilities and even further sharpen his dramatically improved driving skills by racing at I-25 Speedway, Pueblo, CO, Hwy92, Gering, NE, Big Country Speedway, Cheyenne, WY, and 4 races at Colorado National Speedway, Dacono, CO. His commitment to his craft as well as to the sport earned him the RMLRA ( Rocky Mountain Legends Racing Association) most improved driver award.
In the fall, Tyler wrapped up the season by traveling west to The Bullring at Las Vegas. He then headed back to Lanier National Speedway to compete in the Legends Nationals where he finished a disappointing 19th after his car suffered from mechanical failure.
2007 brought a new summer of challenges to an already busy schedule. Tyler and his family would fly out on Sunday's to Charlotte, NC, to compete for a second season in the Summer Shootout pro division. Tyler would race in Charlotte on Monday and Tuesday, and fly home to Littleton, CO, on Wednesday. He would then take a few days to prepare for a full season of Saturday night racing at Colorado National Speedway, and several other regional race tracks. After a flurry of successful races, the racing community once again would recognize Tyler's skills, by awarding him both the Legend Series Championship, and Rookie of the Year at Colorado National Speedway. Tyler's 2007 RMLRA stats include 16 starts, 3 wins, 10 top 5's and 2 top 10's and suffering 1DNF.
In 2008 Tyler challenged himself at the next level behind the wheel of the #10 Late Model at Colorado National Speedway while racing in the NASCAR Whelen All-American series. By seasons end Tyler had finished seventh in the point standings with 10 top 10's and was awarded Late Model Rookie of the Year as well as Late Model and over all Sportmans of the Year award.
When not racing, Tyler plays varsity baseball and basketball. He also enjoys snow skiing, golfing and a wide range of water sports.
